The Journal
Balkanistic Forum has been published since 1992 as an annual edition of the International University Seminar for Balkan Studies and Specializations at South-West University Neofit Rilski, Blagoevgrad. Since 1995, it has appeared in three thematic issues per year.
The journal is indexed in two of the world’s most reputable and globally recognized academic databases—Web of Science and Scopus. As an indexed and peer-reviewed international journal, it aims to provide a broad academic platform for high-quality research that meets international standards of advanced academic knowledge. The editorial teams are committed to excellence in publishing policy and ethics, ensuring the visibility, dissemination of articles, and broad academic recognition of their authors.
The main goal of the journal is to be a free forum for discussing the past and present of the Balkans within a European and wider global context. It is designed as an interdisciplinary journal that fosters the exchange of innovative findings across the fields of History, Microhistory, Literature, Anthropology, Ethnology, Sociology, Philosophy, Linguistics, and Cultural Studies.
The International Academic and Editorial Boards include distinguished scholars from Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Turkey, Croatia, Serbia, North Macedonia, Germany, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the USA. The Journal seeks to contribute to better understanding, dialogue, and peace in the Balkans by promoting respect for cultural diversity and freedom of expression as invaluable factors of progress.
